Rural Delaware Deserves a Break from Forceful EV Policies
The subsidization of electric vehicles (EVs) in lieu of traditional cars and trucks disproportionately affects rural Delawareans. Unsurprisingly, California politicians have been consistently and proactively harmful in its EV policymaking. In October 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order that will require “all new cars and passengers trucks sold in California be zero-emission vehicles” by 2035. Also known as Advanced Clean Cars II (ACC II), these regulations effectively ban all gas-powered vehicles by 2035.
Now, they want to try and bring these radical policies to Delaware. In 2007, Delaware was one of the 17 states who adopted California’s “Advanced Clean Cars” regulations, and are now considering adopting the next phase and banning all internal combustion vehicles by 2035. The state’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DRNEC) is reviewing the potential adoption of ACC II, despite multiple voices from rural communities expressing their opposition.
Stand up for rural Delaware and our farmers by contact your legislator today and telling them you oppose adoption of ACC II. Don’t let them California our Delaware!
